“A word after a word after a word is power.”

– Margaret Atwood

The art of writing exists beyond graded papers; it is a conveyance of ideas, an outlet for creativity, and written conversation. The ability to write well lends itself to a successful career, masterful storytelling, innovative problem-solving, and purposeful communication.

A strong writer is a practiced writer. By providing a scaffold for practice and progress, our program will enable students to strengthen their voice by learning to formulate a nuanced argument, construct an empowering tone, comb through conventions of standard English, and skillfully develop numerous writing pieces under the umbrella of the writing process.

All students enrolled in this course will automatically be entered to participate in an impromptu writing competition with over $100 of total prize money and the opportunity to be published on the NorthSouth website.
