This is Vignesh. Thanks to a North South Foundation scholarship, I am studying Engineering at Anna University in Trichy. When I landed admission into Engineering, my family did not have the financial resources to fund my education. The educational loan I obtained was not sufficient to cover my education over the 4 years of Engineering. At that time I received the much needed help from NSF through Redegg after responding to a newspaper advertisement and applying for the scholarship. The help I am receiving from NSF is helping fulfill my dream of obtaining high quality education. As I graduate, I look forward to helping other underprivileged children realize them dream.

I was one of the scholarship recipient from NSF during the years 2004-2008. I graduated as a Naval Architect from Andhra University college of Engineering in 2008. I still remember the day when I came to Hyderabad for an interview to NSF office.I got 94.8 percent in intermediate at that time and an engineering rank of 6000 +.I couldn’t perform well in entrance due to my ill health during the entrance examination. When I saw my rank I almost lost my hopes to become an Engineer.Engineering was my passion from childhood and I am from a low-income family. My father abandoned us when I was a kid and my brother and I were brought up by mom, granny and grandpa.I lost my hopes to get a seat in AUCE but by Baba's grace I joined Naval Architecture. I knew that it was very difficult for my mom to pay tuition for my Engineering College as my elder brother is also studying Engineering. Suddenly one day I came to know about NSF through an advertisement in the newspaper and applied for it. The questions were tough but practical. It was one of my happiest days in life when I came to know that I got the NSF scholarship. My scholarship continued for four years completely as I was the first place rank holder in my department. After my education I got selected in campus interviews, got nine jobs in India and one job abroad. To gain knowledge and money I came to Singapore. I completed my small responsibilities first, got married also. I am very grateful to NSF.It is really is the best foundation I have ever known.Always I used to have a fear that I am an OC candidate and for any opportunities I will be the last preferred. But irrespective of caste and creed, with pure heart and noble ambition, NSF is helping many students like me every year.Only talent and financial necessity are the two things in consideration when the candidates are selected by NSF.Now I want to give a helping hand in this noble cause.

I am a 20 year old from the village Kulambi of Davangere district, which is 300 km from Bangalore. When I was in 5th grade, I wrote an exam called NAVODAYA entrance exam which selects only 80 students who are given free education with free boarding and lodging. The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) which conducts the examination was initiated by Late Prime Minister of India Sri Rajiv Gandhi in 1986 for the benefit of talented rural students. Selected students receive good education with CBSE syllabus, which is considered in India as a National Standard. About 5000 students write this entrance exam annually and 80 are selected. I was fortunate enough to be selected and sent to JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALYA. There I received wonderful education and was sent to Uttar Pradesh by our school in 9th grade to pursue National integration for a year. I came back after this one year and finished 10th grade with 92.3%. Then, I graduated 12th grade with 87.2% and placed 2000 in Common Entrance Test (CET). I wanted to become an Engineer. However, studying Engineering is an expensive proposition for my family with an annual income of Rs 11000. But our relatives came to my help and gave some money to join in BMS COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, BANGALORE. However the help was temporary and soon enough I was in need of additional money. I read in news paper of NSF scholarship and applied for the same. I was fortunate enough to be selected for receiving the scholarship. With this help I am able to continue my studies. I am in 3rd year B.E in Electronics and Communications with a very respectable aggregate grade point of 8.93 on a scale of 10. With the continued support of NSF I am confident I will successfully finish my Engineering education. I am thankful to JNV and NSF for all the support I received. I have been spreading the word of NSF. Five very deserving students I have shared the news about NSF got selected for NSF scholarships and are, like me, very thankful of the help extended by NSF. My dream is to become a software specialist.
